Project Created:Due to the Sensitive Nature

"Due to the Sensitive Nature" was produced by the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

World Premiere: April 12 – 14, 2018

Quote: “The performance … finds Stuckey accompanied by steel guitar and gurgling 80s-ish synths, discovering a hole in her heart and her past that runs along the sweat-filled lines of a modern day James Cain or Erica Jong…an unnerving sensualist place where easy escape seems unlikely.”
-A.D. Amorosi, The Key

Bio: Martha is a Philadelphia-based theatre artist by way of Minnesota. She has performed and devised work with Pig Iron Theatre Company, Team Sunshine Performance Group, Bearded Ladies, and BRAT Productions. She has performed at venues such as Joe's Pub. Red 40 and the Last Groovement is her latest project: They are a clown funk outfit that graces stages such as FringeArts, Union Transfer, Trocadero, and L'Etage with The Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret.

Kate Faust - Creating and producing her own beats, Kate Faust is an LA-based-via-Philadelphia artist who seamlessly pronounces the message of eroticism and fierce femininity throughout each self-curated track. One listen to her virtuosic vocals, dynamic blend of synths, and confessional-style writing confirms this declaration.

Isaac Stanford teaches with the Cheltenham School District and plays steel guitar with his band Slowey and The Boats.

Project Description: In Due to the Sensitive Nature, Martha Stuckey recounted moments of pleasurable pain and painful pleasure with hilarity, vulnerability, and secret sharing. Haunting and hostile, Martha's voice soared as she sang folk melodies cut with 80's pop synth alongside the unearthly sounds of steel guitar. It was clear Stuckey was trapped. The mystery laid in how she got there or if she even wanted to escape.
