"In an era of timid finances and curtailed ambition, the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society is an anomaly of staggering artistic and organizational surety...this season's calendar would be the envy of any city from Tokyo to Vienna."
—The Philadelphia Inquirer
The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (PCMS) was created so people from all walks of life could enjoy world-renowned chamber music and recital artists.
Our formula is simple: curate a 60+ concert series that brings the world’s great artists to venues throughout Philadelphia (including over 35 annual events at the Perelman Theater), and do so at prices that enable audiences to attend frequently. With all tickets just $24 or less, one can hear the Emerson, Juilliard or Belcea quartets, soloists such as Jonathan Biss, Mitsuko Uchida, or Christian Tetzlaff, and many other leading musicians for a fraction of the cost of the same performances in New York, Washington, or other major cities. In addition, full-time students (35 and under) can attend all PCMS concerts for only $30. With full subscriber benefits, you can reserve your tickets in advance and pick them up at will-call.
When Anthony Checchia founded PCMS in 1986, he set out to fill gaps in our city's cultural life. For three decades now, PCMS has played a vital role in building enthusiasm for classical music and in providing important concert opportunities and exposure to outstanding performing musicians and composers. From masterworks and rarely-heard pieces of special interest to new music by living composers, there is literally "something for everyone."
Our patrons tell us they love our commitment to the highest artistic standards, for presenting a vast array of compelling repertoire from all periods, and engendering a welcoming concert environment that includes one of the best box office experiences in town. But don't take their word for it - come see for yourself! Give us a call at 215-569-8080 or visit www.pcmsconcerts.org to learn more.
